My name is Jimmy
I am originally from West Virginia about 30 min south of Pittsburgh, PA.
But as you can see I am living down here in Milton currently stationed at NAS Whiting Field.
I am joining this forum for a few things.
1) Its been a while since i have been out to a meet
2) 2 days after purchasing the SR #4 cylinder is now reading 25psi on comp. test
3) I have been here for 2 months and i need some excitement

The AE86 is now the 6th car in the past 5 years that i have owned. I have gone from a 98 chevy prism, 93 built civic hatch, 88 s-10 small block, 01 mustang gt, 05 wrx, 00 f350, and now this. So this should be interesting.

so maybe you could direct me to the guy who built this car. I am getting another sr20 but the guy i bought it from in panama hardly knew anything about it. so far i figured it has a 240 crossmember and a welded diff.

240sx front crossmember and welded limited slip diff actually. The car is fine. If you get another sr your fine. No worries.

That is my old SR, and before it was sold to the guy you bought it from it had 155 across all 4, if the number 4 cylinder had that bad of compression it would have a noticeable misfire.. Not trying to insult you intelligences but you do know the proper process to check compression IE must be at operating temperature, WOT, etc???? I did not own the car just owned that SR..

I did not know wot. I will try it again. Thanks for the heads up and I don't take offense to things when it comes to me picking up information. Anything helps and I'll be the first to admit I hardly know anything about the SRs. But countless nights on forums are surely helping.

Good im not the dick that trys to downgrade everyone, but me and 3 other ppl witness it has 155 across all 4.. but that was before the guy that sold it to you had it, does it run like crap?

It doesn't even want to start now. And if it does it dies after about 5-10 seconds. I ordered another engine so hopefully next week or so I will begin the swap. I just need to get the tools. I might have to take it to base and use the auto hobby shop. Help is invited though.

recheck compression wot warm or cold. Make sure they're relatively even and make sure the spark plug base in the head is clean. CLEAN. Really Clean. Check voltage at the battery too. You need new battery relocation stuff. Or move it back to the front.

Spark plugs were really oily not sure how to clean that without taking the head off.

If the spark plugs are oil then get a new valve cover gasket with tube seals. Or just tube seals if you can. To clean inside the tube where the spark plug goes just shoot some air down in there. Should blow everything out. the o ring on the compression tester just has to seal properly is all.

When I get the new engine n tranny in the mail I'll be asking for another set of knowledgable hands to help. If I don't build the extra block I'm sure a reasonable price can be talked about.

Also, you may want to invest in some motor mounts. The driver side on your car is bad if memory serves me correctly. You may want to check that, the best time to swap would be when the motor is out
